Kim Henry Named Honorary Chair for Oklahoma Nonprofit Excellence Awards
2/24/2008

The Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits announced today that First Lady Kim Henry will serve as Honorary Chair of the first Oklahoma Nonprofit Excellence (ONE) Awards. The gala will be held on April 12, 2008, at the Renaissance Hotel in Tulsa.

“It is an absolute honor to have First Lady Kim Henry serve as our honorary chair because of the tremendous difference she has made through her involvement in our communities,” said Joe Moran, ONE Awards Event Chairman.

The gala will include cocktails, a seated dinner, special awards ceremony, video presentation highlighting the winning nonprofit organizations, along with a noted master of ceremonies.

“The ONE Awards is a great way to recognize many of the exceptional nonprofit organizations around the state of Oklahoma that make a difference in our everyday lives,” said First Lady Kim Henry. “This event is for them and the wonderful job they have done and continue to do.”

Civic involvement has always been very important to First Lady Kim Henry. She has been active in the Muscular Dystrophy Association, having lost a 7-month-old daughter to spinal muscular atrophy. Currently, Kim serves as an honorary board member of the Children’s Medical Research Institute, is on the board of directors of the Close Up Foundation, the Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum, Oklahoma Partnership for School Readiness, K20 Center for Educational and Community Renewal, and the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation. Kim also serves on the board of directors of the Oklahoma Academy of State Goals and Leadership Oklahoma. Kim is on the board of trustees of the Sarkeys Foundation and the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence. She also serves on the National Task Force on Early Childhood Education for Hispanics.
